Some
of my most recent news is very exciting! This summer we were able to travel
to The United States to attend a wonderful place called Camp
Sundown.
I spent
a wonderful week at Camp Sundown, and I think all the people in the XP
Society are doing a great job! They help the children with problems,
and all the volunteers are so kind.
At camp, I made new friends and we did things that we can't do in daylight:
we played baseball, basketball and we rode horses.
While there, I learned that I am not the only one with this disease (XP).
It was really a Block the Sun not the Fun project and for people suffering
from Xeroderma Pigmentosum it is the only occasion where we can all come
together, really have fun, and amuse ourselves without danger of being
exposed to sun light.
Being locked up in the house all day long is somewhat very harassing and
stressing but after the Camp I've come to realize that I'm not the only
one in that situation and that there are some patients who suffers more
than I do.
I've also come to know how people can be good hearted because many people
in my country generously contributed to make my trip to the US possible,
and Air France airline generously gave us two free tickets. A very nice
person in Canada who makes clothing that helps block the sun sent me a
special outfit to help give me some added protection during my adventure
in traveling to the US. Her name is Dawn and you can visit her here.
It really
makes me feels good to see how people can get together when they want,
and in my opinion that is how the world should be all the time.
